Halloween Costume Accessories

Halloween Accessories to Add To Halloween Costumes
With Halloween costumes, accessories can completely change the look. From the makeup to spooky eyes to using a mask to a complete Halloween costume. One little thing can change everything. If you are on an extremely tight budget, buy a cheap costume. Then, look around the house. Create accessories to add and enhance your costume. Here is how.
A pirate costume is a universal Halloween costume. You are a Goth person and have a lot of Goth jewelry.  A studded bracelet, a studded neck collar, black Goth boots, black trench coat, and even black nail polish and lipstick.
First, put on the white flowing shirt and black pants of the costume. Tuck the pant legs inside your boots.  Take your neck collar and snap it around one of your ankles for an effect. If you have more than one, use them on both ankles and around your neck. Keep the styles together to match the ankles. Wear only one bracelet on your wrist. You can use black wedged or chunky shoes if you do not have boots.
If your Halloween costume came with a vest, use those colors to heighten it by using accessories that will coordinate and blend.  If it was solid red, then use spooky red eyes that look scary and menacing wearing only black lipstick with hints of red mixed in. Make patterns on your nails using black nail polish as the base. After it dries, use red nail polish for the designs or use press on designs to accent the costume. The same goes if the vest was green with a pattern. Add some flair to make things look awesome.
You can use your black trench coat if it is a chilly night.  Wrap a color coordinated scarf around your head and waist. Your Halloween costume usually comes with one. If not, match it with your vest so nothing clashes. Use one pirate earring or use a set of gold or silver hoops with pirate symbols. You can glue things onto a cheap pair of earrings to make the accessory accent everything.

You can take this Halloween accessory look one step further and become a living dead pirate. Nasty, rotten teeth, skin coming off the bone with awesome face makeup. Change the eyes up to completely white for a dead effect. Use skeleton skin gloves or bony fingers to make the boney effect in the hands. Create a hook on one hand. Limp and drag your foot or create a peg leg.
There are several different styles of Halloween Costumes to choose from. The accessories used for these costumes are limitless. Just because some are included with the costume, you are your own person, free style and change things up to being unique, bold, and daring. The costume can take on a life of its own with a completely different meaning or added twist from good to evil and evil to semi bad.

Movie Character Costumes

Becoming a Movie Character for Halloween

We all love our movies. From Batman to Spiderman to Avenger characters and Wolverine. There are many new and old favorites for2012. There are so many choices this Halloween that it is hard to decide. But, if you do not hurry, the Halloween costumes will sell out fast! How do you decide? Here are a few options.

First off, are you going solo to the party? Are you and your friends, kids, or other family members going trick or treating together? What if you are going with your significant other or even your pet? These important Halloween decisions make the final decision of what movie character you will become.
The Black Widow Costume from the Avengers
f you are going with your date, then one can be Cat Woman and one can be the Dark Knight. Be evil and the other person is good. Black Widow and one of the Avenger characters would be interesting. Like the Hulk, Hawkeye, or Thor. Using their weapons for accessories and an authentic costume will make it interesting.
Dark Knight Rising Batman costume

Stick Black Widow with Tony Stark, who is Iron Man and have a third person be Pepper Potts, his love interest. Create jealousy and a love triangle. End up having a cat fight. That would be the talk of the party. If you make it look real and the costumes authentic, it could turn up on a You Tube video!
You and your pet can be using authentic Halloween costumes. Your dog could have Thor’s lightening as the sidekick. Or the dog could become Hawkeye’s bow. Captain America could have the dog as his sidekick with American colors to help the sick and wounded in battle.
The kids, mom, and dad definitely could go as Avengers, Spiderman, or Men in Black as a family.  Kids love Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. If you had a daughter, have her go as Thor’s sister or Black Widow. Create a Ms. Captain America. The costume would be easy for her and look real. Being a Hulkstress is definitely going to be fun! Her mom and herself could be good and then evil. One side of each or just create half and half with the costume itself along with the face makeup.
Dad can be Spiderman with mom being Spiderwoman. That would be interesting with spider babies. Venomous spiders that looks so innocent until they bite you! Mix up the kids being red and black in alternating colors.
Keep it cool with Men in Black with the black, dark sunglasses and simple Halloween costumes. Wear a white shirt, black pants, jacket, and shoes. Use your cell phones as a Neuralyzer, the gadget which made everyone forget stuff. Add some weapons like a De-Atomizer or Carbonizer. Looking authentic and real, you can take down those nasty, evil aliens!
Becoming a movie character for Halloween has thousands of possibilities. There are new and old favorites that can be meshed together and make it your own twist. Maybe you did not like something you saw and want to improve upon it. Maybe there was something cool you thought would make the movie characters even better at fighting, being evil, or even sexier. These ideas get started and could become the next big hit movie possibly creating a new character!

Childrens Halloween Costumes

Kids Halloween Costume Ideas for 2012
The kids this year have some really cool ideas for Halloween. From little kids to preteens, even the girls have more choices. There are evil bad guys and great guys and gals saving the day once again. New characters and old favorites make them want to be everything about that character. The new characters can be a car, an animal, and even a fish along with comic book heroes and baddies. Here are a few Halloween costumes ideas to help sort out the confusion.
Disney’s Brave gave us a modern day warrior for us girls. The flaming red curly hair is easy to make with a curling iron and temporary hair color. Buy an authentic looking bow at the store. Use some camo face paint as war paint for her face to spruce the costume up a little. Use an authentic Brave costume dress that is blue and outlined gold and pair it up with a pair of gold ballet slippers or slip on shoes you can spray paint. Have her friends dress up as girl warriors and sidekicks.

Monster High Abbie

Monster High Abbey Bominable Halloween costume will have your girl looking like a throwback to the 60’s but with updated cool fun she will absolutely love! Her costume should have matching leg and arm warmer to match the dress. Just buy cool neon colored wig of her choice along with a head covering. Have her friends dress up as other Monster high characters to match.
The boys have so many possibilities! Right now it is tied between Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. Little boys want to be the Hulk. This is so easy to use green body and face paint. Dye his hair black. Put red, evil scars on his face, neck, arms, legs, and hands and feet. Use a white, torn t shirt and tattered pants.

Captain America
With Captain America, it is easy to use face paints for the red, white, and blue. Buy the authentic Halloween costume and add the shield, wrist, and shoe coverings. Or just get some red material and make the shoe and wrist coverings. The shield can be a round piece of cardboard. Use a tight large rubber band or Velcro so he can hold it. Then have him paint it along with the star in the middle of it.
Thor can be a one piece body suit. He is super strong and fast. The Halloween costume would be more padded at the top for his muscles along with chest armor, sleeves of chainmail, and wrist guards. Create a red cape attached at the shoulders.
Remember his hammer. You could use a large round mailing tube with fabric glued over it for the handle or even thick knotted rope that could be painted. If you wanted it softer, then use a stick of wood that is painted and glazed to make it smooth.
Kids Halloween costumes for 2012 have a lot of ideas to think about. Just do not wait until the last minute. Do let them know if they cannot make up their minds that they have a set time limit to decide. Or their character could become extinct!

Pet Costumes are Hot This Year - Dress yours up!

Evil Pets and Their Halloween Costumes

Halloween is fun for pets. They love their parents and are always having play time with them. If the pets are used to wearing a sweater or any other type of clothing for them, then wearing a Halloween pet costume will not be a problem. Try a few months ahead of the event if the animal is not used to this and gently show them it will not hurt them or scare them. Cats love to play with their tails. So, they will think it is a new adventure to explore.

Pet Witch Costume

A lot of times the parents will dress up as the same as their pets. Sometimes they just want to dress up their pets only. One of the most popular costumes this year is zombies. This would be a great concept to try with your pet.

If you own a large dog like a rot, pit, or anything else bulky and mean, they are already scary enough. Buy a dog costume that will cover their body by using snaps or Velcro. There can be leg coverings also. If there is not, then use friendly dog safe makeup to blend the dog’s legs in with the body cover. Attach the zombie head covering to their head. Never cover their face to keep them safe.

If you just want to have Halloween fun and go tamer, just buy a sweater that says, “I love zombies.” Or other sayings and designs like a zombie hunter, biohazard, skulls, and more. Dad or mom can have matching t-shirts. If the parents were zombie hunters, then they would carry a crossbow or a pistol designed to kill zombies on contact. Use a head covering for the dog that would give them a weapon to use. Like a zombie killing bone or an extra set of teeth.

If you are having a problem in finding an evil pet costume, try this idea. Measure your dog. Then, go to the craft store and buy fake fur. Use elastic or Velcro to attach to the fake fur. This also will be attached to your pet safely.  Take the fur and use latex face paint for skin that will be open oozing sores. Or just look for wounds that are for sale for Halloween. Glue them on with craft glue and dry completely. Do not forget to add blood if necessary.

You can comb your dog or cat’s fur to blend into the fake fur, if they have long hair. Do the same for each leg to blend into the costume. Create a head covering that will Velcro around their neck. Remember to comb their hair into it to blend in. Your pet will never have blood or face paint on them. They will stay clean and have no skin allergies.  But, they will have a lot of fun!

The parents can take their creation and match it to their costume by shopping around and adding accessories to it.  They will look well complemented and get a lot of looks walking down the street. If you do it correctly, the animal’ wounds will look real! Even add glow in the dark to the wounds for a creepy, eerie affect!

Movie Costumes and Those Who Love Them

Everyone has an all-time favorite movie, right? But of course we all have our favorites in a lot of different categories too. Just mention what Disney movie you watched the most growing up and you’ll spark up hours of conversation and memories between you and your friends. These classic movies never go out of style and they seem to be gaining popularity through the years. They have digitally re-mastered many of these old favorites and almost every Disney movie is now available on DVD and Blu Ray. And of course Disney will always be making new movies that we and our children will continue to fall in love with.
On the other hand, horror movies bring up a whole different kind of conversation. Sure, everybody loves Cinderella and Peter Pan but not everybody is a fan of the more gruesome and gory scary films like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. I think most people will agree though, that horror movies today are made much less tastefully. These days, movies are less suspenseful and more sadistic than they used to be. You either love it or you hate it…what’s your stand?

Whatever your favorite movies or movie characters are, this is the time of year where you get to have fun and dress up as whoever or whatever you want. There are tons of different movies, categories and characters to choose from for this year’s costume. Are you planning on going to any Halloween parties or compete in any costume contests? People love to see others dressed up in Halloween costumes that they are familiar with and can identify with. Put together correctly, a classic movie costume with all the right accessories will never fail to impress the crowd!

2012 Halloween Costume Contest

Costumes, decorations and trick-or-treating are all essential to create the magic of Halloween. What is your favorite thing about Halloween? If you ask them, most kids -without a doubt- will tell you that the candy is what they look forward to most. Sure, dressing up is fun, but in their eyes- it doesn’t even compare to the joy of counting their candy (and having more than their brothers and sisters) and eating it up. And in the weeks after Halloween, there’s nothing like opening a lunchbox to find a bag of Halloween goodies. The fun just doesn’t end.
But what about “grown-ups” who still love Halloween? Once we hit a certain age, most are more concerned about calories than packing up our lunches with tootsie rolls and skittles. But of course it’s okay to treat ourselves to our children’s candy collections once in a while! When we get caught up in the hype of Halloween we sometimes forget how to relax and have fun…and that’s what the holiday is really all about!
There are so many things for adults to do…like Halloween parades, parties and Costume Contests. Have you ever bought the perfect costume, dressed it up with the best accessories and got compliments all day and night long? We’ll you can finally put your fashion skills to good use and win awesome prizes for looking great on Halloween.

IT’S STARTING UP - Halloween Costumes!

It is that time of year when the kids are starting to pick out their backpacks and the parents are looking forward to having a break from them during the day. The summer is coming to a close and it is bittersweet. The boardwalk will shut down, the beaches will be bare, and the only people left will be the locales. The great thing is that Halloween is right around the corner.
Halloween is a great holiday for festivities and outdoor activities. Shopping for Halloween Costumes is just exciting! You can go pumpkin and apple picking, go through cornfield mazes, take haunted hayrides and decorate your house to the nines. You can make it as homey as you like and surround yourself with pumpkin spice candles or you can transform your home into a haunted house!

The fall air is so crisp and fresh. It is great being outdoors with a sweater on and a cup of hot chocolate. Even sitting by the beach with a blanket on is an option as well. It is a great opportunity to get outside before the cold weather drifts in. There are just as many adults as children who bask in the season.
Another great thing about autumn is being with family or someone special. You can snuggle up with your sweetheart by going through a haunted attraction or sip apple cider with your loved ones. It is the best time to be together and do crafty things before you have to keep warm for the winter.

Haunted House

It’s that time of year again. It’s time to start thinking about what you need in order to get ready for Halloween. We all agree that Halloween is the most fun holiday of the year and getting your Halloween costumes is a given, but don’t forget to decorate your home as well. There are so many different Decorations to choose from and decorating your home can be even more fun than dressing up for Halloween.
Full Skull Halloween Yard Prop Halloween Decorations
You can start by setting up a graveyard on your front lawn using a variety of different tombstones along with some zombie body parts and skull props emerging from the ground. A fog machine also helps to add a spooky feel to your graveyard scene and you can boarder it with a set of skeleton or spider style fencing. As you make your way in to the house a couple of artificial spider webs with giant spiders are guaranteed to scare your unsuspecting visitors. Some hanging skeleton props are also a great way to creep out you guests. There are also numerous types of rubber snakes, bats, and rats available to spread throughout the house in various places.
When your guests get hungry you can serve your goodies on a variety of different haunted platters, bowls, and plates. There are also a number of different kinds of scary shot glasses and goblets to choose from when it’s time to serve your tasty beverages. There is no wrong way to turn your home into a haunted house. Have fun with your decorations and be creative. What are some of your favorite scary Halloween decoration ideas?

Fun with Four Legged Friends

It’s been scientifically proven that pets help us to reduce our stress and they can actually help us live a longer, happier life. Our pets become an important part of our family and we love them like they are our own children. Some people even decide to have pets instead of having children because their love is truly unconditional.
Bride Dog Costumes Pet Halloween Costumes
When Halloween time comes around pets costumes are becoming more and more popular every year. There are so many different options to choose from these days that that the hardest part about it is deciding which one best suits your pet’s personality. It is always funny to see an animal wearing clothes let alone wearing a funny costume. You can even team up with your pet and wear matching costumes to show your solidarity with one another. There really are countless amounts of different variations for costume combo ideas. One of my favorite pet and owner costume ideas is having the pet dressed as a police officer and the owner dressed as a convict or vice versa. I’ve also seen a dog dressed as a bride and the owner as the groom. There is also a groom costume made for dogs so if you have two dogs you can dress them up like a newly married couple.
What are some of your favorite pet costume ideas? Have you seen any pet Halloween Costumes that really stood out above the rest? The most important part is to just have fun with it. Have a Happy Halloween!

Funky and Fun Wigs

Halloween Wigs Curly Purple Costume Wig
The grass always looks greener on the other side, right? It seems to be human nature to either want things that other people have or to want the opposite of what we have. Whether you’re a kid or a “grown up,” the time comes around once a year for you to dress up and have fun. And that time is, of course, Halloween

Halloween is the time where you can be anything you want to be, dress any way you’d like to dress and have fun at any age! Did you ever wish your curly hair was straight or that your brown hair was blonde? Ever have long hair and wonder how it would feel and look to cut it short but not have the guts to really cut it all off? Well, Halloween Wigs are perfect for creating a new, fun (and sometimes funky!) style.

Wigs are not only available in different colors, lengths and styles but some also have special features like fiber optics and tinsel. No Halloween Costume is complete without one! No matter what your costume choice is for this year, you’re sure to find the perfect wig to match. Maybe you’re not in the market for a wig or maybe your current hairstyle works well with your costume…but you might need a beard or a mustache and they sure don’t grow overnight! Have you decided what you are going to dress up as this year? And more importantly (and much more interestingly) what wig do you think you’ll be wearing with your costume?

Princess Birthday

My daughters seventh birthday is the first week in August. We have had quite a few themes, ironically we never had a Princess theme. We have a pool, so we mostly have pool parties for her. My husband wants to do something a little more extreme this year because he figures she will be big by the time we know it.

Little Girl's Princess Shirley Costume     We are definitely having her party in our yard but we are renting a big bouncy castle and a few vendors will be there as well. We are having a face painter and having actors dressed as the Disney Princesses. It will definitely be a party to remember! My husband rented a DJ so that the adults will have a good time as well.
We are just going to make a big party out of it. They can swim, eat, play and dance. I believe there are about a hundred invitations going out and that is not all kids! Thank Goodness! We are inviting pretty much all of our family. The main thing I want for my daughter is a beautiful Tiara that she can keep.

It will be a lot of work but I have confidence it will be a great party. I know my husband is giving his full attention to the party. My niece makes cakes and is making my daughter a grand cake for free as her gift. We are so very grateful for that! She saved us quite a bit of money! Do you think we should have a cotton candy machine?

The Best Makeup Kits

Have you ever tried to do your makeup for Halloween and wonder why it never comes out that great? There are many failed makeup attempts during Halloween. Not all makeup is the same and some makeup is cheaper than others. When it comes to Halloween Makeup, you don’t want to be cheap or else you won’t be able to get the high quality “real” look that you want.  This Halloween you may want to consider a movie quality makeup kit to achieve a real looking makeup job.

Scarecrow Reel F/X Prosthetic Costume Face Kits

Reel FX is a known product that offers many varieties of great prosthetic makeup kits including demons, vampires, werewolf's, devil’s and more. This kit is very easy to apply. They come painted so that you can apply makeup to them any way you would like. They even include makeupsuggestions.  Do you have sensitive skin? These kits are made of latex so they should not bother your skin one bit!

Many of the other makeup kits out there are cheap, don’t stay on your face, or come already painted and look cheesy.  Wearing a mask can get annoying since you would have to remove it to eat or drink anything and you can barely see out of them. The face appliance kit would allow you to look as though you have on a mask and allow you to see clearly and be able to eat n drink without the annoyances of a mask. With all of the choices of these kits, you can be scary or funny looking all night long. If you are heading out to a party or a costume contest these kits are sure to be an eye catcher.

Halloween Accessories

Halloween is a day unlike any other. While most holidays are for celebrating joy, birth, and freedom Halloween does the opposite. Halloween is a day to celebrate the frightening things about our lives. Though it is unusual to celebrate terror and fear, Halloween is and will always be a great past time to be enjoyed by all.

Mad Lab Kit Halloween Horror DecorationsEven though this is a day to let loose and have some fun the time leading up to it can be a big pain. Everyone wants the stand out and have a great costume, but it can be very frustrating to pick out the right one. Sometimes you want to be scary or sometimes you want to be funny maybe even sexy its entirely up to you. The thing is nobody wants a boring costume and times are always changing so that means the costumes are always changing. This can make keeping up a little bit difficult.

Creating your own look is a great way to be different. With such an abundance of costumes available there is so much to choose from. Adding Accessories to your costume is a great way to have your own unique look. These little details are really what make your costume stand out from the rest. Your costume can have that extra edge using weapons, jewelry, make-up, and much more. Whatever you think will add something to your costume is probably available and ready to use. So just make sure when you put your costume together and think outside the box. This is going to assure you that your costume is going to stand and your Halloween will be a good one.
