Childrens Halloween Costumes

Kids Halloween Costume Ideas for 2012
The kids this year have some really cool ideas for Halloween. From little kids to preteens, even the girls have more choices. There are evil bad guys and great guys and gals saving the day once again. New characters and old favorites make them want to be everything about that character. The new characters can be a car, an animal, and even a fish along with comic book heroes and baddies. Here are a few Halloween costumes ideas to help sort out the confusion.
Disney’s Brave gave us a modern day warrior for us girls. The flaming red curly hair is easy to make with a curling iron and temporary hair color. Buy an authentic looking bow at the store. Use some camo face paint as war paint for her face to spruce the costume up a little. Use an authentic Brave costume dress that is blue and outlined gold and pair it up with a pair of gold ballet slippers or slip on shoes you can spray paint. Have her friends dress up as girl warriors and sidekicks.

Monster High Abbie

Monster High Abbey Bominable Halloween costume will have your girl looking like a throwback to the 60’s but with updated cool fun she will absolutely love! Her costume should have matching leg and arm warmer to match the dress. Just buy cool neon colored wig of her choice along with a head covering. Have her friends dress up as other Monster high characters to match.
The boys have so many possibilities! Right now it is tied between Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. Little boys want to be the Hulk. This is so easy to use green body and face paint. Dye his hair black. Put red, evil scars on his face, neck, arms, legs, and hands and feet. Use a white, torn t shirt and tattered pants.

Captain America
With Captain America, it is easy to use face paints for the red, white, and blue. Buy the authentic Halloween costume and add the shield, wrist, and shoe coverings. Or just get some red material and make the shoe and wrist coverings. The shield can be a round piece of cardboard. Use a tight large rubber band or Velcro so he can hold it. Then have him paint it along with the star in the middle of it.
Thor can be a one piece body suit. He is super strong and fast. The Halloween costume would be more padded at the top for his muscles along with chest armor, sleeves of chainmail, and wrist guards. Create a red cape attached at the shoulders.
Remember his hammer. You could use a large round mailing tube with fabric glued over it for the handle or even thick knotted rope that could be painted. If you wanted it softer, then use a stick of wood that is painted and glazed to make it smooth.
Kids Halloween costumes for 2012 have a lot of ideas to think about. Just do not wait until the last minute. Do let them know if they cannot make up their minds that they have a set time limit to decide. Or their character could become extinct!

Pet Costumes are Hot This Year - Dress yours up!

Evil Pets and Their Halloween Costumes

Halloween is fun for pets. They love their parents and are always having play time with them. If the pets are used to wearing a sweater or any other type of clothing for them, then wearing a Halloween pet costume will not be a problem. Try a few months ahead of the event if the animal is not used to this and gently show them it will not hurt them or scare them. Cats love to play with their tails. So, they will think it is a new adventure to explore.

Pet Witch Costume

A lot of times the parents will dress up as the same as their pets. Sometimes they just want to dress up their pets only. One of the most popular costumes this year is zombies. This would be a great concept to try with your pet.

If you own a large dog like a rot, pit, or anything else bulky and mean, they are already scary enough. Buy a dog costume that will cover their body by using snaps or Velcro. There can be leg coverings also. If there is not, then use friendly dog safe makeup to blend the dog’s legs in with the body cover. Attach the zombie head covering to their head. Never cover their face to keep them safe.

If you just want to have Halloween fun and go tamer, just buy a sweater that says, “I love zombies.” Or other sayings and designs like a zombie hunter, biohazard, skulls, and more. Dad or mom can have matching t-shirts. If the parents were zombie hunters, then they would carry a crossbow or a pistol designed to kill zombies on contact. Use a head covering for the dog that would give them a weapon to use. Like a zombie killing bone or an extra set of teeth.

If you are having a problem in finding an evil pet costume, try this idea. Measure your dog. Then, go to the craft store and buy fake fur. Use elastic or Velcro to attach to the fake fur. This also will be attached to your pet safely.  Take the fur and use latex face paint for skin that will be open oozing sores. Or just look for wounds that are for sale for Halloween. Glue them on with craft glue and dry completely. Do not forget to add blood if necessary.

You can comb your dog or cat’s fur to blend into the fake fur, if they have long hair. Do the same for each leg to blend into the costume. Create a head covering that will Velcro around their neck. Remember to comb their hair into it to blend in. Your pet will never have blood or face paint on them. They will stay clean and have no skin allergies.  But, they will have a lot of fun!

The parents can take their creation and match it to their costume by shopping around and adding accessories to it.  They will look well complemented and get a lot of looks walking down the street. If you do it correctly, the animal’ wounds will look real! Even add glow in the dark to the wounds for a creepy, eerie affect!

Movie Costumes and Those Who Love Them

Everyone has an all-time favorite movie, right? But of course we all have our favorites in a lot of different categories too. Just mention what Disney movie you watched the most growing up and you’ll spark up hours of conversation and memories between you and your friends. These classic movies never go out of style and they seem to be gaining popularity through the years. They have digitally re-mastered many of these old favorites and almost every Disney movie is now available on DVD and Blu Ray. And of course Disney will always be making new movies that we and our children will continue to fall in love with.
On the other hand, horror movies bring up a whole different kind of conversation. Sure, everybody loves Cinderella and Peter Pan but not everybody is a fan of the more gruesome and gory scary films like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. I think most people will agree though, that horror movies today are made much less tastefully. These days, movies are less suspenseful and more sadistic than they used to be. You either love it or you hate it…what’s your stand?

Whatever your favorite movies or movie characters are, this is the time of year where you get to have fun and dress up as whoever or whatever you want. There are tons of different movies, categories and characters to choose from for this year’s costume. Are you planning on going to any Halloween parties or compete in any costume contests? People love to see others dressed up in Halloween costumes that they are familiar with and can identify with. Put together correctly, a classic movie costume with all the right accessories will never fail to impress the crowd!
